Clare's work reflects her values and beliefs in particular in its celebration of the beauty in the ordinary.
Clare has been working as an artist and art teacher since her retirement as a Primary School headteacher. Her submission piece for Landscape Artist of the Year, ‘The Blue Bucket’ was a large painting of a scene at the back of an old barn featuring a blue plastic bucket.
Clare worked on a large scale in oils during her Landscape Artist of the Year appearance which enabled a dynamic and engaging composition as well as a strong use of colour.
In the studio she often works on a large scale but is also interested in very fine work in pencil, the use of charcoal for portraits and life drawings and combinations of watercolour and pen. Clare is currently working on a series of articles for The Artist Magazine which focus on drawing and her belief in helping others to discover drawing as a means of self expression.
