Graeme Duddridge

Les Gants Jaunes

£800

The subject of this painting is taken from a c 19th studio photograph .The sitter is unknown. The painting reimagines the scene in colour in a classical garden setting familiar from the conventions of formal portraiture in the European tradition. The yellow gloves are a reference to the codified language of dress of the 1920’s where they were associated with the racy lifestyle of the “Bright Young Things” and their set.
