Chi-Yien has loved making marks on paper for as long she can remember.
Graduating with a degree in film and animation led to her desire to find a narrative to her art. She found the world of art and design fascinating and spent over 15 years working as a graphic designer, which honed her ability to solve problems with pictures. Chi-Yien’s first love of painting took centre stage again after relocating to Clevedon, near Bristol from London in 2017.
Finding her voice as an artist has been a joy. Chi-Yien works in both acrylics and oils to capture the spirit of her landscapes. In recent years she developed a style of drawing using archival ink pens. This mindful technique of drawing in vertical lines is a departure from Chi-Yien’s usually loose and bold style of painting and she enjoys creating works both styles.
