Chiara Crompton

Having graduated from university with a degree in English, Chiara’s wider practice covers painting and sculpture as well as theatre-making and written word. This interdisciplinary practice informs her portraiture. 

Her work is concerned with conveying a sense of character, and often takes on a playful feeling. Bold, almost graphic line work is a recurring feature – as is bright colouring and pattern. Though she does often paint from life, many of Chiara’s ‘sitters’ are imagined characters plucked from half finished scripts and scribbles.
