Dawn is a figurative artist working mainly in oils based in Yorkshire.
Dawn has recently begun a new series of works where her inspiration has come from the Lake District. It is only recently that she has placed her figures outdoors. This may seem strange, but her work has evolved to this point.
Although she began her art journey in 2018 and started to paint portraits, she has a love of the outdoors and started to work on landscapes, trying to capture the emotion and essence of a place. Working in oils, she likes to work quite traditionally, building layers with an underpainting. She transports herself back to the place whilst painting, which she believes helps with the overall aesthetic of the piece.
She fondly remembers her appearance on Landscape Artist of the Year as a magical experience and hopes to appear again soon – perhaps on Portrait Artist of the Year.
