Edward Lawrenson

biography

Ed studied at Winchester school of Art where while painting he experimented with video and sound installations. A six month exchange to Paris opened him up to new influences from 20th century abstract expressionists as well as rekindling his first love of the impressionists.
He loves to paint his young family and the world around him in a painterly style, while hoping to capture the essence of the subject and sitter. He prefers to work from life wherever possible to capture the pattern of light as it reveals form and likeness.
Aside from portraiture Ed is currently working on a large body of mythological painting; fusing elements from the Bible with contemporary science fiction and historical painting motifs.
