George Metu-Onyeka

George is a photorealistic artist whose work addresses the question of their realism, and the extent at which, rather than being construed as photorealistic, they utilise a different form of pictorial realism. His pencil drawings give the impression of being a series of studies that are photographic in nature, but when they are seen up close, they show a compliance of a fundamental quality of drawing. moving away from the realm of photorealism into one of high-definition drawing, giving focus to the intricate details of the tens of thousands of pencil strokes that make up the work. George appeared on Portrait Artist of the Year in 2018.
