Helen was a semi finalist and the overall wild card winner on the 2022 series of Landscape Artist of the Year.
Helen enjoys working on series pieces, often resulting in diptyches and triptyches. She would describe her work as realistic with an abstract twist. The abstraction comes through from her university days at Reading where Terry Frost was head of painting and Mali Morris one of her tutors. Helen works mainly in oils, using vigorous brush work with thick and thin areas letting the eye form the scene. Since appearing on Landscape Artist of the Year, Helen has made a point of doing more plein air painting.
Helen taught art for over thirty years but is now painting full time. She has work in collections throughout the UK and more recently in Spain. Helen is an artist member of Paisley Arts Institute and Glasgow Art Club where she regularly exhibits.
