Henry McAlpine

Henry McAlpine was born in Hexham, Northumberland, and was surrounded by rural landscapes during his upbringing. He has always been fascinated by the variation and energy of the natural world and our evolving relationship with it. Inspired by art movements such as Futurism and German Expressionism, he introduces geometric components to construct the landscapes he paints. His approach to painting is harmonious, applying smooth blends of colour to each fragment. This allows him to navigate the complexities of the world around him and find clarity in areas that are often more abstract.
