Jo Burns

Jo Burns Landscape artist of the year series
biography

“The breathtaking beauty of North Devon is surely a gift to any artist. The pathways and byways of the area are clothed in a soft, leafy beauty that is unmatched.”

Jo, through her work, thoroughly immerses herself in painting the intensity, variety and saturation of colour that can readily be found in this continually changing landscape and seascape.

She has been a painter for many years, studying originally at Jacob Kramer College, Central Saint Martins, Loughborough College of Art, and at Manchester, where she completed her MA in Fine Art Painting in 1984.

She was the Bartlett Fellow in Painting at Newcastle University in 1990 and was the Arts Council Durham Cathedral Artist in Residence in 1991. She has taught at numerous art colleges and universities, has shown her work both in the UK and abroad, and has work in a number of regional and UK public and private collections.
