Originally from Lurgan, Northern Ireland, Jonathan is a self taught artist who now lives and works from his home studio in Coatbridge, Scotland.
Predominantly working in charcoal, Jonathan produces small detailed studies of rural, urban and industrial landscapes. Portraying the abandoned, derelict and disused as atmospheric monochrome drawings, richly textured through intricate mark-making that rewards the observer with closer inspection.
His preferred surface is Ampersand Pastelbord on which he removes as much as he applies, building up tonal layers and etching in highlights more often than not at a small scale. He exhibits regularly in a number of galleries around Scotland, Open Exhibitions in London and Art Fairs around the UK.
