Jonny Kemp

Despite drawing always being a hobby, Jonny studied English at university and worked as an English teacher for ten years. In 2023, he left teaching to pursue a career as an artist.

He became known locally after completing a project to draw and interview 40 local independent business owners and volunteers to celebrate his south London district, and has since appeared at markets, art fayres and open houses in the area.

Jonny regularly takes commissions for portraits, whilst working on his own self portraits and other series, including portraits of people asleep on the train to work, exploring the frustrations of the early morning routine which he is now hoping to escape.

Jonny is a member of the Croydon Art Society, the SE20 art group, and a founding member of the South Norwood Creator’s Collective.
