Jude Wainwright
Jude is a professional artist based in Manchester, working predominantly in oils.
Born in Sheffield, Jude is now an artist living and working in Manchester, having settled there after receiving a BA Hons in Fine Art from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2009.
Jude is currently based at AWOL studios, Ancoats and is also an active member of the artist collective 10STRONG.
Jude work has been commissioned by both commercial and private collectors throughout the UK, including commissions for television dramas and film.
Jude was named ‘Manc of The Month’ in November 2022 by Cotton On MCR and she her appearance semi-final on Portrait Artist of the Year 2022. A documentary of her work “Art Over Mind” was released in 2018.
Jude paints almost exclusively in oil paints, with ideas being formed autonomously. Self-portraiture frames the basis of her work, often the result of dreams or flashes of thought, meaning is gathered retrospectively and offers a time to inspire her next steps. Much like diary entries, the paintings serve as keepsakes, a space for reflection and rumination.
