Katharine Rowe
biography
Katharine paints from her studio at home in Wimbledon. She works mostly in oils but also loves to experiment with other media.
Katharine is a colourist and explores colour-play in her work. Varying intensity of hue helps investigate what effect different colours have on each other, particularly in a landscape with both light and dark areas.
For inspiration Katharine looks to the colourists of the 20th century: Matisse, Derain, Peploe, Vlaminck, Hockney to name but a few. Living so close to all the fabulous exhibition spaces of London, she tries to see all the big exhibitions and write reviews of them in her newsletter and on Instagram.
