Kelly is a self-taught artist who is builds on a classical tradition of realism to represent light and form with a desire for timeless beauty.
Kelly was born in Kingston Upon Thames but had a childhood filled with many moves, including emigrating to Australia twice. As an adult she finally settled in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.
After a first class degree in English and time in various jobs, whilst singing in bands and becoming a mother, drawing and painting became a mental haven for her. She quietly taught herself, inspired by the skills and timeless beauty of many artists such as Zhaoming Wu, Jeremy Mann, Nick Alm, Christian Hook and Sargent.
After Jeremy Mann selected her in 2022 for his Barcelona workshop, and being chosen to appear on Portrait Artist of the Year, Kelly’s drive and passion for art keeps moving forward.
She consistently works to commission while exploring her own techniques and style for original works, challenging herself and honing her skills to focus on light, form and composition.
