Kyla Tomlinson
Kyla is a 2D character animator, portrait artist and cartoonist based in Dublin.
Kyla graduated with an Msc in Animation and Electronic media in 2002. She has worked on projects for many high profile networks such as Pathe, CBeebies, CBBC, Warner Bros. and Disney Television.
Alongside working as an animator, Kyla has continued to exhibit her portrait work. She has had several portraits pre-selected for the Royal Society of Portrait Painters at the Mall Galleries, London as well as twice featuring in Portrait Artist of the Year. She has also taught at both primary and higher education levels as module leader, tutor and guest artist covering subjects from character animation, storyboarding to portraiture and life drawing.
Using oils, charcoal, inks and pastels, sometimes combining traditional and digital techniques, Kyla’s work can be both bold and sensitive, but always with strong character and a sense of joy of spirit with a slightly raw edge.
Kyla also runs an Artists Collective which now has just over 150 members from all backgrounds of creative practice from across Dublin city.
