Paul did an art foundation in Cardiff back in the eighties which put the kibosh on any further studies.
After studying, Paul continued as a self taught artist, painting ad hoc portraits of people and their pets.
He discovered book arts by chance in 2004 which led to a surge of enthusiasm for art and a return to college at LCC for a graduate diploma. He spent the next few years on a series of giant handmade illustrated volumes with a gothic, darkly humorous theme.
Paul\’s now works full time as a photographer (in London street advertising) and fits in commissioned artwork around this: anything from large house murals, to illustrations for tv intros, most recently, charcoal drawings of maps and stately homes for a new BBC show.
He made his first bird taxidermy in November (a magpie) and found it rekindled an interest in developing more of his own personal artwork, with death and mortality a perennial touchstone.
