Rebecca Noelle Purvis

Rebecca Noelle Purvis Landscape artist of the year series
biography

Rebecca began to study classical art at an early age at The Barnstone Studios in Coplay, Pennsylvania. She then attended the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, graduating with a BA in Illustration.

After graduation, Rebecca began teaching art in York, Pennsylvania. She also began working on a series of landscape drawings and paintings focusing on the Pennsylvania country side. This started her love of the land and the influence that man has made to change the natural beauty. She then moved to Colorado to explore this subject more in-depth. This is where her sense of colour and movement in her paintings began. There she met and married her husband and had their daughter. After eight years in the mountains, the family made the move to Northumberland, her husband’s home.

Living in the North of England has inspired Rebecca in so many ways. The coastline has brought her love of colour and movement alive. Enjoying the long summer days and the extreme winter light. Rebecca opened her own gallery in 2018, making the step to be a professional artist.
