Stefanie Trow

biography

Stefanie is a British painter, born 1982 in South Yorkshire. After graduating from Salford University in 2004 with a degree in Visual Arts, she now lives & work in Manchester with her wife & two children.

Her paintings are large, expressive works in bold colours which attempt to capture something of the urgency of a moment spent in nature.

Inspired by fleeting glimpses from her life, she creates multi-layered paintings which are a communion between drawing and painting from observation, imagination and memory. Incorporating pencil, ink, oil, collage and found objects, Stefanie creates evocative, layered scenes whose subjects shift in and out of focus, like memories overlapping and coalescing.

Recent exhibition highlights include a public solo show ‘Walk with You’ at Warrington Museum & Art Gallery and past solo shows at Comme Ca Art, Dez Rez Projects and Cass Art (Manchester). She has exhibited in two person shows at Albemarle Gallery (London) and selected group shows at Saul Hay Gallery & Contemporary Six (Manchester).

Most recently she has been longlisted for the Jackson Art Painting Prize, ING Discerning Eye Exhibition, and elected as an associate member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts.
