biography

Finding new and different techniques, working in oils, watercolour and mixed mediums, Steven’s inspiration comes not only from the human form, with portraiture and figurative works, but also from the human sensory system – especially sight and touch, creating tactile works inspired by visually impaired and the blind.

Having exhibited in many exhibitions and worked with interior designers, he has successfully completed several large canvas commissions in Europe, and has his work in private collections around the world. He has won different awards in both the UK and USA including The 26th and 27th Essex Open, Southend, and The Richeston 75 international Portrait Award, USA. His latest being The Smallwood Architects Prize for Contextual Portraiture at The Royal Society of Portrait Painters annual exhibition 2020.

He has exhibited with The Royal Society of British Artists Annual Exhibition 2022 at The Mall Galleries with ‘Floating’, a self-portrait constructed from thousands of hand painted wooden balls.
