Tiggy is a portrait artist from Reading who mostly works in oils and pencil.
Tiggy’s paintings are a celebration of everyday life and of every person she paints. She often works from discarded and anonymous family photos in order to breathe life back in to the subjects. Many of her paintings are interested in documentation, to mark occasions from the very mundane to the life changing, hence her interest in mysterious photos; you can rarely tell what prompted the camera-person to take the photo.
Her paintings often toe the line between steady observation and vibrant, textured interpretations of the subject that bring a vivacious tone to her work. Tiggy omits aspects of her paintings and superimposes others in order to ensure that they are readable at first glance, and fill the viewer with emotion.
