This is the finished painting I did on LAOTY. The day was very overcast the tide was in, the water still, the reflections were crystal clear. I loved all the clutter of the boats and ladders up the harbour wall. I chose a far too complicated scene to do in 4 hours and at the end of the episode it was far from being resolved. I’ve since worked on it more trying to catch the atmosphere, and to find the right balance between detail and abstraction.
